About Us.
Our Story
Owner Michael Wettig has sausage-making in his blood. His father earned his Master’s in sausage-making in Germany, then started a Deli in Hannover (see below Michael at the Hannover deli at age 2, 1962). When an opportunity presented itself the family immigrated to Prince George, BC. Michael, young at the time, recalls helping his Mom and Dad on their farm, where they had an abattoir
In their Footsteps
In the ’80s the family opened a shop in West Vancouver, where Michael and his siblings learned the meat trade. As a teen, he got a lot of hands-on experience and understanding of what it takes to run a business.
Passing on the tradition
In 1998 Michael opened his own Deli along with his wife Astrid. Their three children also helped out behind the counter. At the time they started out making just their bratwurst. Over the years they’ve had requests for gluten-free, and better quality, low-salt meats. Now 24 years later they make 85% of their meat products in-house. Michael is still thinking about what next his customers would enjoy.
